Ritual: stick to what has worked for you in the past when things were challenging & what you know, shift accordingly & take one step at a time. (Assess, Adjust, Action!)
Why is Ritual important!? For me, it is a set of guiding principles and practices that help me align with my heart & highest purpose!
It is an opportunity for us to heal & keep our side of the street clean, keeping our mind/body/soul clean & clear with Intention & deliberate action – when we do this we contribute to the collective healing & wellness.
Ceremony and ritual are ways to take a moment in our day and make it sacred, to bookmark that tiny sliver of time and highlight what makes it special. It is a way to capture daily moments and lift them up so we are lifted up. Over a lifetime of small moments made sacred, we end up with a crafted, sacred life, one that we chose to create this way by bringing in spirit to a workout, intention to our breath, dedication to our actions, love, zest & color to our day (just to name a few ways).
The more sacred moments we create, the more we can drop into the depth, power, and magic that is available to us. It opens up time and space to connect to ourselves and the divine.
Throughout human history, people of all civilizations have used a variety of rituals to align themselves with the natural rhythms of life, to celebrate special occasions and honor each other. As we honor nature’s cycles, we also learn to honor changes inside ourselves. As we align ourselves with nature’s rhythms, we start to see the interconnectedness of all life. When we have greater alignment with our heart's desire & our true nature, we can create greater dreams, better habits, breakthrough negative thought patterns, & other self-defeating behaviors. Connecting to our breath, body, & spirit is key in this process!
Our movement, breath, and placement of our hands & feet are sacred acts that create an embodied ritual of prayer when we practice yoga (and many other movements) , and I take that further into my training & my day-to-day life, & with my clients – I teach that our movement and breath is a sacred act, it becomes a ritual when done with reverence & intention. We create new stories to live with and new ways of being!
We learn to use our breath to draw in and consecrate our desires & dreams. And we learn to use our bodies as an embodied Prayer within Ritual to cultivate what we want, need & desire!
As we use our body as a prayer, how we move our bodies, how we place our hands & feet becomes an expression of a ritual, the embodied prayer & living ceremony!
When we do this, we allow the breath & movement to infuse ourselves with the Fierce Love stories of our lives and our sacred mantra’s, so that they can live within us and light us up as they grow and we are seen as the manifestations of our Dreams! We take simple daily acts and turn them into the sacred movements that guide our living Dreams! We train our bodies to live these stories & dreams because we are designed for greatness, to be extraordinary & magnificent beings full of love! Each workout, training session, regardless of whether we are lifting, walking, riding, or taking an adventurous journey can be infused with spirit & sacredness by utilizing Intention, Dedication, Mindfulness to guide us closer to our goals & Divine purpose. I bring the beauty and reverence that I was taught so long ago through yoga, to every movement, action, and thought. We become walking manifestations of our consecrated messages, stories, mantras, and dreams! When we incorporate these things into our daily routines or make them a new Ritual, they become a sacred ceremony, and we bring a greater sense of calm, peace, alignment, power & grace to our days and lives. We begin to listen to our bodies differently. We quiet down enough to connect deeply to what our bodies, minds, and hearts need.
Fierce Love: make it your priority & refuse to be an asshole. Savage, fierceness, creates responsibility & discipline to get your shit done & to make your Dreams a reality centered in a place of love! Whatcha gonna create now?!
Practice self.love toward yourself & lots of love for others. Self.love is not enough without fierceness – we have to have that fierceness in order to keep that fire lit under our butts so we don’t slack off on caring for ourselves and letting everything go. It’s the discipline to keep doing the good and hard things for ourselves. Things like giving ourselves some time and space within the day to hear ourselves think, taking a step or two closer to our dreams, washing our hair, getting out of bed, setting clear boundaries, choosing compassionate communication to share our wants, needs & desires! All of this takes that fierceness because so many times it’s “easier” to fall back and NOT do these things because sometimes they are uncomfortable & require challenging conversations. But all relationships require difficult conversations if we are to grow and improve – those are with ourselves & others. We have a unique opportunity in this “pressure cooker of practice” right now to practice these things and to be heard differently, because many of us are in such close quarters with loved ones right now. If you are feeling anxiety, overwhelm, anger – look at where you need to express your needs & how can you do it with compassion! Refuse to be an asshole! You and the people around you deserve better than that! Take a time out and take the garbage out! Hit a pillow, scream in your car, write, dance, run - whatever but get it out in healthy ways, and release the stagnant energy that could be building up! You do not want to take that with you into the future!
Guard the fortress of your mind with Fierce Love, like your life depends on it – because it does!
Protect the information that you are allowing into your mind! Limit the negative information from the news, radio, & social media and be mindful of what you are INPUTTING that is positive and life-affirming! Surround your mind with great podcasts, movies, books, and music! Your perspective is EVERYTHING! You can change it in an instant! Create a sanctuary for your mind, body, heart & soul to reside in! You have control over this now and always!
Trust & Gratitude:
I trust in the Higher Good & that the Divine Universe has my back – It has never failed me and I’m not going to start doubting it now.
Trust in the wisdom and strength of our ancestors that have come before us and know that we hold their DNA in our own bodies, and they have been through & have done hard things! We have that living within us all the time! Calling upon that ancient wisdom helps ground me knowing I come from deep strength and wisdom! I also call upon the Ancient Warrior Goddess to inform what I’m doing when I need a little more love and guidance!
I trust in the resilience of humans and in my own resiliency – I have Built my Robustness so that when shit hits the fan, I can handle what is thrown at me & have the strength & endurance to persevere.
Rising in Gratitude means you rise THRU & ABOVE the problem - it is a higher frequency than fear! Begin by giving Gratitude for all that you have & stay present with your body & breath. You cannot be anywhere but right HERE if you are paying attention to your breath and it moving through your body! So, if you are feeling ungrateful, overwhelmed, anxious, freaked out – turn to your breath & allow your attention to follow it in & out of the body! Be grateful for your breath, then your body, then your roof over head or the trees by you, your loved ones, your pets, expand it as much as you want to! There is always something to be grateful for, find it & honor it!
Give Gratitude for this LIFE & LOVE RIGHT NOW, have a sense of reverence for it, for all the seen and unseen gifts we will be given in the future!
